I can quickly “Clear my Mind” and add tasks via voice (tasks are automatically added to my Holding Jar).

2. I have quick access to my most important tasks (my Daily Game Plan Jar) on my wrist, ensuring that I stay on track during the day.

3. I can move tasks from the Holding Jar to my DGP if necessary.

I can do all of this without pulling my phone out of my pocket!

This workflow reinforces a simple system that has worked WONDERS for me:

1. Each time something comes to my mind, I dump it into my Holding Jar via the Clear Your Mind bar (I don’t try to find the right place to enter it, I just quickly add the task without thinking about sorting).

2. I periodically sort the Holding Jar during the day (the goal is to keep the Holding Jar clear) by moving tasks to my Daily Game Plan, Tomorrow Jar, or the Someday Jar.

3. I focus on Daily Game Plan tasks–working on the most important things first.

Why does this work?

This workflow keeps my mind clear by getting things out of my head and into the Holding Jar. Since these tasks are in the Holding Jar, I don’t feel like I need to work on them immediately. Working on unimportant tasks as they come to you is a major momentum/productivity killer.

After those tasks have had a few minutes or hours to age in the Holding Jar, I can rationally sort them by importance. If a task goes into my DGP, that means I’m getting it done today. If it’s moved to my Tomorrow Jar, then I will get to it after I finish my DGP list. The Someday Jar is for things that need to be looked at eventually, but not right now.

This simple strategy removes distractions, keeps my mind clear, and builds/maintains momentum during the day. At the end of the day, I experience a feeling of accomplishment, because I know I’ve worked on the most important things in the correct order.

I hope this helps you become more productive. This simple system that I use daily will work with ANY time management program (but obviously I built TIMEJAR around these core concepts).

If you need help, or have any questions about the course, or the TIMEJAR system, please post in the Discussion section.

Have a great week!

Kelly Johns

We pushed a TIMEJAR iOS update today that includes our new Apple Watch App!
